What You’ll Need

• Basic socket set (10mm, 12mm, 14mm)

• New clutch or torque converter (if reusing old one, ensure it’s in good condition)

• Fresh oil (SAE 10W-30)

• Fresh gasoline (87 octane or higher)

Step-by-Step Installation

1. Remove Old Engine: Disconnect the throttle cable, unbolt the engine from the frame, and remove the clutch from the old engine’s crankshaft.

2. Transfer Clutch: Install your existing clutch (or a new one) onto the new engine’s 3/4″ shaft. Ensure the key is properly aligned .

3. Mount New Engine: Place the engine in the frame. The mounting holes should align perfectly with your Baja’s engine plate .

4. Secure Bolts: Tighten all mounting bolts securely. Check chain alignment—the sprocket should be straight.

Our 196cc engine may not be a direct bolt-on replacement without a few minor modifications or re-drilling the motor mounts so that everything lines up correctly, but rest assured it can be made to work with a just little DIY elbow grease.
